CDTS Training Levels

Five training levels: Beginner, Novice, Improver, Intermediate and Advanced

Beginner Class

Covers the basics needed for a well-behaved pet; our aim is to help you train your dog to be a polite member of society who can be taken everywhere with you. Course content includes:

  • Loose Lead Walking
  • Sit
  • Recalls including dog to dog recalls
  • ‘Leave’
  • Polite Greeting around people
  • Heelwork
  • ‘Wait’
  • Appropriate behaviour when in cafes, pubs etc
  • Teaching appropriate nose to nose meet and greets between dogs

Novice Class

We teach more focus and attention from your dog. In Beginners we train you, the handler. At Novice, the training of the dog really begins! Course content includes:

  • Formal Heelwork
  • Attention Around Distractions including other dogs
  • Multi Dog Recalls
  • Sit Stay
  • Distance Control
  • Jumping

Improver Class

For the enthusiast who desires to have really good control and teach their dogs some fun exercises too! Course content includes:

  • Heel off lead
  • Go To Bed/Box
  • Retrieving
  • Multi dog heel/loose lead walking
  • Sit & Down Stays With Distraction
  • Wait Command Whilst Moving
  • Using a buzzer

Intermediate Class

At this level we ask more of the dogs, who are working reliably off lead. Course content includes:

  • Stays With Distractions i.e. food on the floor near dog
  • Scent Work
  • Retrieving Different Objects
  • Off Lead Heelwork On Left And Right
  • Jumping Multiple Jumps
  • A Reliable ‘Wait’ Command At A Distance

Advanced Class

Getting a reliable dog regardless of the level of distraction. Course content includes:

  • Retrieving Over Jumps
  • Scent Discrimination
  • Tricks
  • Drop On Recall
  • Out Of Sight Stays
  • Direction work from a distance
